Katy Perry holds strong at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with her first "Prism" single "Roar." After being stuck behind Robin Thicke's summer hit "Blurred Lines" for two weeks, "Roar" rose to the top spot in the US last week. After the debut of the clip's jungle-themed music video, Perry gets to celebrate a second week on the top of the charts, according to Billboard. "Roar" was the most streamed song in the country last week and the second-most played song on the radio. The airwaves still favor "Blurred Lines," which clocks in at No. 2 on the Hot 100 this week. Formerly sitting at No. 1 for 12 weeks and holding back One Direction, Miley Cyrus and Daft Punk from the top spot, a chart decension for Thicke shouldn't be too big of a disappointment. After all, "Blurred Lines" is the bona fide "song of the summer." No. 3 on the Hot 100 this week is a surprising rise from New Zealand alternative rock artist Lorde. Her relatable, impressive debut single "Royals" rose five spots on the charts from last week's position at No. 8. At 16 years old, Lorde is making her musical presence known with strength. Though a relative unknown sits at No. 3, two modern pop music legends, Jay Z and Justin Timberlake's single "Holy Grail" rises to No. 4. The first "Magna Carta Holy Grail" single rose one spot, due to the help of added radio play and the song's music video, which debuted on Facebook earlier this month. The top five songs are rounded out with the half electric/half country song from Avicii, "Wake Me Up!" Electronic music fared well on the charts this week. A remix of Lana Del Rey's "Summertime Sadness" rose from No. 10 to No. 6, with the help of Cedric Gervais. Unfortunately for Lady Gaga, her first "Artpop" single "Applause" keeps falling down the charts, after peaking at No. 4. Her musical response to critics sits at No. 7 this week, falling yet another spot from last week's No. 6. Drake makes his 13th appearance in the top spots of the Hot 100. His newest "Nothing Was The Same" single "Hold On, We're Going Home" pops into the top 10 at No. 8. The top spots are rounded out by Capital Cities' "Safe and Sound" at No. 9 and Eminem's "Berzerk" at No. 10 -- Em peaked at No. 3 last week, after the first "MMLP2" single made its debut. Watchful fans will notice that Miley Cyrus' "We Can't Stop" fell out of the top 10 this week. However, her new single "Wrecking Ball" is likely to shoot into the top of the charts next week. The clip has already made impressive numbers: it's peaked at No. 1 on the iTunes singles chart and smashed VEVO viewing records.
