Back when it was announced that Star Wars: Episode VII would be filmed in London, we learned that director J.J. Abrams was not too happy about that decision. He made it clear that he understood why it would have to be filmed there, but also added that it "really does make me insane." Now reports are claiming Abrams has been preparing his Bad Robot studios in California for the Star Wars production. Has he gone behind Disney and Luscasfilm's backs with this decision?

"When you're 13 and 14, it's like, f--- that, I don't care what the movie is," Abrams said back in June, joking about his wife and kids' inconvenience with the London filming.

So when his studios in the States started building sets for the upcoming science fiction film, speculation about his compliance with the London production sprang up.

As of now, we can assume that his decision to build sets, green rooms and sound studios is just Abrams' way of keeping some of the film's production close to home as he's done with all of his other films. Expect updates on this story as it develops.

Another great aspect of the rebooted Star Wars franchise is the standalone spin-off projects. Now a new report is claiming that the films involved will focus on origin stories of the specific Star Wars characters.

Disney CFO Jay Rasulo recently answered some questions about the franchise and revealed, "the sky's the limit" in terms of standalone films and other franchise projects.

"There's incredible flexibility. It's an unbelievable palette to create from," he said.

Rasulo also called this franchise an "evergreen property, meaning it "will deliver revenue to Disney in perpetuity, and could become even more valuable if the company signs the most lucrative new deals."

What Star Wars characters would you like to see in a standalone, origin story film?
