Britney Spears Las Vegas Residency Confirmed on 'Good Morning America': Fans React on Twitter, Plan Trips to Planet Hollywood Beginning in December

Well, as many fans speculated, the rumors have been confirmed. This morning (Sept. 17), "Work B*tch" singer Britney Spears confirmed that she will be taking up a two-year residency at the Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. The mysterious countdown on Spears' website led to an appearance on "Good Morning America," where she confirmed the news.

Spears will perform roughly 50 concerts over the next two years in Vegas at Planet Hollywood. She has vowed to give the show, called Britney: Piece of Me, a different vibe from other performances on the Strip, blending together club elements with concert elements. "We wanted the environment to be that was so people could come and feel like they're in the show with me," said Spears. She will, of course, play all her biggest hits, but Spears also noted that she will add some of her new material into her show. Spears recently released a new single "Work B*tch" from her new album. The untitled effort is due out Dec. 3.

According to "Good Morning America," over 1,000 fans dressed up like "Baby, One More Time" era Spears to help bring in the Las Vegas news, but they're not the only ones excited for the princess of pop to take over Planet Hollywood.

All morning, dedicated Britney fans have been excited about the news on Twitter. Using the hashtag, #PlanetBritney, fans have been excited about the show all morning, making both that and "Britney Spears" trending topics. Many fans are planning on traveling to see Spears perform.

"Already planning my road trip to see @britneyspears in VEGAS! I am not missing this. #PlanetBritney," wrote @dommdizzle. "BRITNEY RESIDENCY IN VEGAS IS HAPPENING. I MUST GO. WHO IS COMING? #PlanetBritney," wrote @catkerv.

As reported yesterday, Spears will make nearly $15 million over the next two years in Las Vegas.

Britney: Piece of Me will kick off in Las Vegas on Dec. 27. Tickets for her Las Vegas concert series go on sale Sept. 20 at 10 a.m. PST.
