One Direction's Niall Horan Dating Rumors 2013 [VIDEO]: 1D Irish Heartthrob Wants an American Girlfriend? 'Can't Compete' w/ Flirty Harry and Louis

One Direction is currently on the New Zealand leg of the "Take Me Home" world tour and the boys took some time out of their performance schedule to talk about romance and relationships. In a new interview, Niall Horan admitted that Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles are much better at flirting than he is. The Irish hunk also said he wants an American girlfriend!

"I'd love an American girl," Niall revealed and probably broke plenty of hearts as he did it.

As if he was trying to make things worse for his non-American fans, he added: "In fact everyone in the group loves an American girl."

Way to rub salt into a fresh wound, Niall!

Don't worry though, the singer backtracked a bit on his statement and cleared the air.

"To me it doesn't matter where a girl is from," he said. "I like any girl I can hold a good conversation with."

This is clearly a much safer answer, but his original revelation is probably still stinging the hearts of Directioners not from the United States.

It seems like Niall stumbled over his words a bit, right? Funnily enough, the singer also admitted that he doesn't consider himself a good flirter. Well, at least compared to Louis and Harry.

"I can't compete against them," he said about Tomlinson and Styles. "There's a way to do it and you have to be relaxed but sometimes I can get fidgety."

Harry is clearly single, but Tomlinson has been in a relationship with his girlfriend, Eleanor Calder, for two years now. Shouldn't he stop flirting?

When asked to rate his own flirtation skills on a scale from 1 to 10, Niall said: "I'm just going to give myself a figure but don't ask me to explain it. I'm going to throw out a six."
