After the release of Iron Man 3 earlier this year, the future of the franchise has been questionable considering Robert Downey Jr.'s willingness to stay on as Tony Stark in sequels. A new contract drafted soon after these rumors surfaced, ensuring Tony Stark's portrayer would continue for a few more appearances but this did not specify if the Iron Man franchise would continue. But now a new statement from Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige might help clear some of this up!

When asked about the Iron Man franchise and Robert Downey Jr.'s future with it, Feige said, "Well, if I believe Tony Stark to be James Bond, then there would be and Iron Man 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9... What is James Bond on at? Twenty?"

He added: [Robert Downey Jr.'s return] is the question. And again, that's a question we won't have to face until after Avengers 3. So that's at least five or six years away.

So at least we know that Marvel is considering a prosperous future for Iron Man, but this statement hints that me might be seeing different actors coming into the role. How does that make you feel? Could you see any other actor other than Robert Downey Jr. as this character?

Feige also mentioned Stark's involvement in The Avengers: Age of Ultron and how this new villain is involved with him.

"We are adapting his origins from the comics, and in the comics it was Hank Pym," he explained. "Hank Pym is not in Age of Ultron, so we are tweaking it. We do think there's another character we have that is quite good with AI, so smart people can make assumption, which I can not confirm or deny."

He said that last part with a smile on his face, by the way.
