With the recent Evil Dead remake coming out earlier this year, fans of the film have turned their attention to the possibility of an Army of Darkness sequel. Star Bruce Campbell has hinted at the possibility and so has producer Robert Tapert. There has yet to be any word from Sam Raimi but we're still hopeful. That said, Fede Alvarez, the director of the Evil Dead remake, might have either started a pretty big rumor or broke some huge news on his Twitter account.

According to Alvarez, he won't be working on the possible Army of Darkness sequel, but says that filmmaker Sam Raimi will direct.

Check out this brief Twitter interaction that lead to the reveal that Raimi is directing the highly anticipated sequel:

Do you think this simple Twitter post is sincere and that Raimi will sit in the director's chair once again for this project?

Meanwhile, Army of Darkness star Bruce Campbell teased the sequel in the following statement:

The last one was 22 years ago. I just haven't been racing to do it. Sam Raimi is just a little bit busy making the biggest movies in Hollywood. I use to be busy. Now I'm not. That's why I'm here. . . Ash would have to stop occasionally from chasing some deadite to catch his breath. Maybe we could do that, I guess. That would be exciting. Fight in a walker. That would be alright. Hit them with my cane. Fake them out, have a fake heart attack, distract a zombie. I like it. . . Alright sir, the answer is yes.
