Daniel Radcliffe has created quite a respectable name for himself after leaving his Harry Potter role behind him. The actor is one of the most sought after stars for dramas these days with films like Kill Your Darlings and The Woman in Black showing his acting chops. The latter film was more of a horror movie, but Radcliffe is reuniting with the project's director, James Watkins, for a new biopic entitled Gold.

This new project focuses on an Olympic rivalry in 1980 between English runners Sebastian Coe and Steve Ovett. Many are already comparing this movie to this year's Rush, considering the rivalry aspect.

Daniel has been cast as Coe, an "obsessive and nurtured, is a quiet loner driven to the limit of endeavor by his ambitious father." Meanwhile the yet-to-be cast Ovett has been described as an "effortless and natural, is a confident joker and outsider, fighting to prove himself in an elitist world."

The script is based on Pat Butche's The Perfect Distance.

"Coe and Ovett first raced against each other in 1972, when both were teenagers," the movie news website Slashfilm explained. "The pair came to dominate the sport over the next several years, breaking twelve middle-distance records and winning three Olympic golds, two silvers, and one bronze between them. The most famous moment of their rivalry came at the Moscow Olympics in 1980, when each won the other's best event."

This will surely be another great role from Radcliffe who has definitely distanced himself from his childhood acting role in the Harry Potter franchise.

Are you excited to see Daniel take on this role?
