Justin Timberlake signed on to the film Neil Bogart biopic project Spinning Gold not too long ago, but the movie has yet to land a director. The "TKO" singer recently promoted the film at this year's Cannes Film Festival in May, so it looks like that paid off because now Spike Lee is reportedly in early talks to take on directing the project.

Bogart was an infamous record executive that was responsible for the rise of the Disco music phenomenon. Growing up as a destitute kid from Brooklyn, Bogart grew to define the pop-culture of his generation. While making a name for himself, the music legend discovered acts like Curtis Mayfield, Bill Withers, Gladys Knight, KISS, Parliament, Donna Summer and The Village People. He was the founder of Casablanca Records and died in 1982 at the age of 39.

Bogart's son, Timothy Scott Bogart, wrote the script for this Timberlake-starring project. Here is a brief synopsis of the story from the writer, given back in 2011 when the project was announced:

This is saga about a young dreamer who started with nothing and came of age in the '60s and '70s, believing anything was possible and every risk was worth taking... we needed an young actor who can carry this picture. When Justin walked into the room, that was the moment I had been waiting for 29 years... He has the exact same energy as my father, the same glimmer in his eye.

Are you excited to see this interesting story come to life with Timberlake leading the film?
