According to a new report, Metal Gear Solid V will officially be split into two games with one serving as a prequel to the other. The first in the series, entitled Ground Zeroes, will be the prequel leading into the main installment, entitled The Phantom Pain. The latter will have most of the storyline whereas Ground Zeroes will be a smaller, cheaper installment of the popular series. This news of course makes us wonder how many more titles will come for the fifth Metal Gear Solid chapter.

This announcement comes after back and forth reports from different sources that basically got a little overwhelmed with the two titles floating around. At one point, some thought that Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain were both titles for MGSV, serving as working titles. But now we know that they are two separate games for this franchise.

Despite all of this confusion, what we can take away from this news is that we will be seeing Snake back in action within a year from now. Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will be hitting stores in the spring of 2014 as a stand-alone title for the Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One and PS4.

The game will cost $29.99 for each console but if you download it XBOX 360 or PS3, the price drops to $19.99 (downloading it on the newer platforms is still full price).
