Did you find this story by typing the terms "Miley Cyrus" into a search engine? If your answer is a resounding "yes," then you are not alone. The headline-grabbing twerker/singer of 2013 was Yahoo's most searched item over the last 12 months.

Yesterday (Dec. 3), the search engine/news website published their annual list of the top 10 searches, and Miss Cyrus came out on top, surpassing other major stars and hot topics like Justin Bieber, the iPhone 5s and Kim Kardashian.

2013 truly was the year of Cyrus. Not only did she release her first album in three years Bangerz, but she also caused quite the stir when she twerked on Robin Thicke at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, split with her longtime beau/fiancé Liam Hemsoworth and rose to the top of viral video charts with her controversial (semi-)nude music videos for "We Can't Stop" and "Wrecking Ball."

Meanwhile, super celebrity Kim Kardashain came in at No. 2 on Yahoo's list. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star also had a big year, with a high-profile relationship with Kanye West, which included the most-talked about baby of the year North and a super-elaborate marriage proposal.

Other searched-for celebrities included sexy model Kate Upton, Selena Gomez, Gomez's ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber and the troubled teen star of the summer, Amanda Bynes.

Not quite so famous but more like infamous, Jodi Arias was the eighth most searched for term. Her 5-month long trial, which included 18 days of her own testimony was the media circus of the year.

See Yahoo's full top 10 list below:

10. Justin Bieber
9. iPhone 5s
8. Jodi Arias
7. Amanda Bynes
6. Obamacare
5. Selena Gomez
4. Minecraft
3. Kate Upton
