Joe Jonas has opened up about his life as a Jonas Brother in a new essay for Vulture, and though he maintained a squeaky clean image throughout his whole career with the "First Time" band, the middle JoBro has revealed that not everything was as it seemed on the surface.

In the Vulture article, nothing particularly shocking is revealed, though Jonas did open up about some of the more controversial parts of his past life as a Disney sensation.

On Demi Lovato: Jonas admitted that after starring in the Camp Rock movies with Lovato, the two became a couple for "a month," but their relationship came in the midst of Lovato's drug problems and mental health issues. "I really got to know her and got to see the ins and outs of what she was struggling with, like drug abuse. I felt like I needed to take care of her, but at the same time I was living a lie, because I wasn't happy but felt like I had to stay in it for her, because she needed help," he wrote. "It was an insane situation to be in. Things kept building up, and Demi ended up punching a girl in the face on a plane, because she thought the girl was blaming her for something... That's when her team and her family told her, 'You need to go into rehab.'"

On Drugs and Miley Cyrus: Jonas admitted that he's smoked weed before and the first time he did so was when he was "17 or 18" with his fellow Disney stars Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus. "They kept saying, 'Try it! Try it!' so I gave it a shot, and it was alright. I don't even smoke weed that often anymore.'"

On Sex: In the early years of their careers, the Jonas Brothers were best known in the news for wearing "promise rings." "I remember this interview with this guy whose entire agenda was to focus on the rings. He kept pushing the subject, and when we insisted that we didn't want to talk about it, he told is, 'I can write whatever I want,' which terrified us." Though Jonas at one point pledged he would remain a virgin until he was married, he didn't end up holding that promise. "I lost my virginity when I was 20. I did other stuff before then, but I was sexually active at 20." Jonas also revealed he dated Twilight stare Ashley Greene for about a year at that age, so putting two and two together...
