Yesterday, music fans weren't particularly shocked but saddened by the announcement that the Jonas Brothers officially called it quits after eight years together as a band. The news came in via People early in the day on Oct. 29, following an abruptly cancelled tour and a "deep rift" within the band.

In their eight years together -- which included four studio albums, three movies and an original series on Disney Channel JONAS -- the Jonas Brothers sold over eight million albums and gained a solid, dedicated fanbase that followed them from childhood into young adult life.

Understandably so, following the break up announcement, Jonas Brothers fans were upset and decided to express their grief on Twitter. In the last 24 hours, the Jonas Brothers tag on the social media site has been busier than in some time. Though it includes some jokes (like Zach Braff who didn't know they were back together), searching "Jonas Brothers" on Twitter largely produces results of mourning fans.

"So the Jonas Brothers announced they are breakin up.... The first band I grew up with :(," wrote @illuminaterin. Many users echoed this statement posting simply: "I'm Kevin Jonas, I'm Nick Jonas, And I'm Joe Jonas. And we are the Jonas Brothers."

Dedicated fans and fansites also mourned the Jonas Brothers with old school memoriam photos from the group and their Disney days.

Even gifs of Miley Cyrus, who once dated Nick Jonas, were used in the mourning process.

Today (Oct. 30), the Jonas Brothers appeared on Good Morning America to detail the reasons why they split and what the future holds for the songs from their scrapped album V.
