After weeks of speculation, the Jonas Brothers announced yesterday that they were officially calling it quits "for now" following eight years in the industry, four studio albums and more. Rumors have been swirling around the "First Time" band following their abruptly cancelled tour and "deep rift," with everything from drug addiction to diva-like behavior cited as the reason for their break up. To debunk all those rumors and set the record straight, the band of brothers appeared on Good Morning America today (Oct. 30).

Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas looked somber and serious as they spoke about their reason for announcing their split so suddenly, and who initiated the conversation. "I was the one who started the conversation. We're family first, and that's always been our main priority. So, honesty within that, within that group was really important," said Nick. "So, I came to the table with the guys before we were prepping for the tour, and I shared my heart with them.

"In a nutshell, I said, 'We've had some complications within the group for a long time without addressing them. I think this train will fall off the tracks without getting out the concerns and the limitations that we may feel as individuals in the group." Nick then added that it was a difficult conversation to have. He then noted that after weeks of thinking about it, the three Jonases came to the conclusion it was best they all do their own thing.

Joe noted that the music was the biggest factor in deciding to split. After sitting on V and singles from the now scrapped album for over a year, he said it started to get stale. Other creative differences also came into play, with everything from hot to tour to how to set up shots for the music video.

It's worth noting that the Jonas Brothers parted ways with Hollywood Records following their 2009 album Lines, Vines and Trying Times and had complete creative control over their new music and direction, likely a source of the added tension within the band.

As for V, the album that was supposed to be due out this fall, Kevin noted the record would "never" be released in full. However, fan club members will receive four unreleased songs from the album and a 10-song live record from their now final summer tour as a "gift."
