Grimes signs with Jay Z's Roc Nation

As part of Jay Z's bid to own absolutely everything, he recently signed Canadian bleep-blooper/ professional vegan angerer Grimes to his Roc Nation imprint.

Grimes announced the news in a Tumblr post. The post consisted of Grimes throwing up the Roc diamond with the caption "I've joined the X-men."

The news was confirmed by Roc Nation in an official post welcoming Ms. Boucher to the roster.

Of course, the posts about Grimes being a member of the Illuminati have already started.

Grimes made quite a few enemies earlier this year when she posted a photo of herself eating Ben & Jerry's ice cream, claiming a brief break from veganism. She was flooded with angry comments, leading her to write a screed against "dogmatic a--hole vegans"

A portion of her response:

"Part of the reason I posted the ben and jerry's thing is because I like to encourage people towards a type of veganism that is inviting and accepting. For the longest time I was vegan but I just wouldn'tsay I was because of the bad reputation of veganism. most of the vegans i know are dogmatic assholes, and it completely turns people off.

I believe more people would be drawn to having more ethical diets if they didn't feel bullied to do so, or if they felt they were entering a welcoming community.

My brand of veganism is one wherein if your grandparents have no idea what you are talking about then you eat their beef stew rather than upset or confuse them. or if you really want to have cake with an egg in it on the holidays then you have that rather than just not being a vegan because you don't want to give up occasionally having something that you love."

This led New York shoegaze act DIIV to call Grimes out on Twitter.

"grimes' version of veganism is called "NOT vegan", even if a dairy cow is "treated ethically" doesn't mean u aren't consuming/exploiting her," they wrote. 

Of course, this isn't the first (nor will it likely be the last) time that Grimes has stirred the pot on Tumblr. Previously she has posted an anti-sexism manifesto and an anti-Stereogum rant on the site.
