The "Made in America Festival" has released it's line up today, and it looks ah-maze-ing. The Budweiser festival will be headlined this year by Kanye West and Kings of Leon. Grimes be Tumblin'. Every time we turn around it seems like the Canadian bleep-blooper is taking to her tumblog and unloading both barrells into some unsuspecting a--hats. At least she's always entertaining. Say what you will about cooing bleep-blooper Claire Boucher (Grimes), but she sticks up for her friends. Last we checked in with Grimes, she was tackling sexism via a heated tumblr post. Now, she's using that penchant for fiery rants to defend her friend/roommate James Brooks. Brooks (of Elite Gymnastics fame) released an solo EP as Dead Girlfriends and Stereogum trashed it, taking particular offense at the closing track "On Fraternity" which the site took to be about sexual assault. Canadian bleep-bloop musician Claire Boucher, better known by her stage name of Grimes, has had an on-again, off-again love affair with Tumblr. On the one hand, the platform is a major part of the reason why we are speaking her name right now (her early compositions spread around the site like wildfire). On the other she's regularly threatened to leave the Tumblrverse behind and has made disparaging remarks about the service. However, Boucher's dicey at best relationship to Tumblr didn't stop her from posting a full-on, anti-sexism manifesto to her Tumblog yesterday. Read More »
