It's been a season of struggles for David Moyes' men, and they've finally had reasons to smile with the signature of Juan Mata and with Wayne Rooney signing a new contract. However, with the Premier League, and possibly a fourth place finish out of reach, United are turning their attention to the coveted competition that is the Champions League.

If United fail to win a trophy their fans will be furious, and to not finish fourth and fail to gain entry in to next years Champions League is unthinkable, so to lifting this trophy may be their saving grace. The prized European trophy is the envy of every elite club, and the reward for winning for it is a guaranteed Champions League entry for next season. If United can win it they will fix their faltering season and all pressure will be eased on David Moyes.

They have one of the easier teams in their path, but they're by no mean a given to defeat them. They face Olympiacos. With English rivals Manchester City and Arsenal both close to an early exit, United are looking to become one English Premier League team that does go all the way.

Seemingly Wayne Rooney and David Moyes agree as the pair stated their intention is to be winners, and nothing else in this years competition. It's a big ask for a franchise in a poor state currently, but stranger things have happened and United do have the experience and winning mentality required to go all the way.
