Did Katy Perry and John Mayer break up amidst engagement rumors?

After about two years of an on-again-off-again romance, new reports are claiming that pop songstress Katy Perry and John Mayer have decided to end their relationship once again. This news might be surprising to some, considering the latest rumors surrounding the two were about them getting engaged. Apparently, Perry was the one to brake up the romance, making Mayer her ex-boyfriend once again.

The only real evidence to support this claim is the absence of Mayer during Perry's recent vacations to Milan and London. Neither Perry nor Mayer have made any form of confirmation regarding this split, so we shouldn't jump to any conclusions just yet.

If the rumors are true, this would certainly put to rest the gossip surrounding the couple's engagement. Perry was recently spotted with a beautiful diamond ring on her hand, prompting plenty of tabloid headlines to emerge.

But this break up rumor could turn out to be false though, so engagement isn't completely out of the question.

"I've been a fan of John's for years before I got to actually kiss him," she said at the time. "I've been such a fan, I think he's so incredibly talented and gifted and a genius songwriter. So to be a part of anything he was doing was just natural."
