Filming for J.J. Abrams' 2015 blockbuster film, Star Wars: Episode VII, is set to start in May so casting news should be starting very soon. That said, actor Adam Driver is reportedly in final negotiations to star as the film's villain according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Driver is best known for his role on HBO's Girls and also had a small part in Inside Llewyn Davis. He's highly regarded as one of the top rising talents of his generation so it comes as no surprise that he'd be offered this role. Hopefully negotiations go well and we can see him as the latest villain in the iconic Star Wars franchise.

Like many other actors, Driver was rumored to be up for a Star Wars: Episode VII role a few months ago, but without a role attached to the claim. Due to his unique appearance including a strong physique, it looks like an imposing villain was a great choice for Driver.

Does this mean that other actors involved in Star Wars casting rumors might be negotiating contracts as well? We definitely won't be able to say for sure until we get confirmations.

According to Variety, Driver's role is "in the vein of Darth Vader" and would require more than one film commitment, perhaps even all three in the new trilogy. This reportedly has been the problem with this casting process because a multiple movie commitment is hard to pull off for any star. Luckily it looks like Driver is game for the commitment.
