It's been said that Real Madrid's attacking talents could be an unstoppable force if they all clicked at the right moment, unfortunately for Schalke, it happened against them in their last sixteen knock out stage of the Champions League. Real finished 6-1 with doubles from Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema. This was tipped to be one of the most attacking games of this round, but Real produced most of this on their own. They have left Schalke with no chance of qualifying, as they've got to travel to Spain and beat Real by a similar score that they've just been on the receiving end of.

Bale, who left for the purpose of playing in these games, was the key player and looked motivated to help lead his new team to European success. Klass-Jan Huntelaar pulled a consolation back for the German's in injury-time. The volley was one of the goals of the game, but sadly that's as good as it's likely to get for the Bundesliga outfit.

With many top European forces remaining in the competition it's likely that Real Madrid will face Bayern Munich or Barcelona, in what would be a sizzling quarter final for the fans, but one both teams would want to avoid. Of course they could get lucky and face a lesser team, but as everyone says "there's no easy games at this stage". Can Real put their recent horrid form in Europe behind them and go on an win the trophy? With Bale and Ronaldo anything is possible.
