Fashion has always played a major role in music, especially hip-hop, so when Jay Z dropped his semi-ode to Tom Ford, it became a megahit among music's best dressed.

And it's an added bonus that Tom Ford himself actually digs the record. The designer recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and expressed how he really feels about the track named after him.

According to Ford, Hov emailed him prior to releasing the single and gave him a head's up that he would be making the song.

"I didn't know what to expect," Ford admitted. In fact, Ford said after hearing the song for the first time, he "had to go on rap translator to understand it" because he had no idea what the Roc Nation CEO was saying. But once he got it all figured out, Ford said that he loves the name drop.

"The message is actually quite positive," Ford said. "He doesn't do drugs, he wears Tom Ford. That's how he gets his high."

But Hov wasn't always able to afford clothing by Tom Ford. He once rocked a knockoff Tom Ford jersey that the designer later recreated as an actual piece of his.

"I made a knockoff of a knockoff," he joked.

Hov has always had a good eye for fashion. Recall his clothing line Rocawear.

Maybe the two will collaborate on some pieces in the future.

If Jay Z and Tom Ford collaborated on a clothing line, would you wear it? Let us know your thoughts below.
