For a few years now people have been talking about the class of 2014, and how this NBA draft could be one of the greatest we've ever witnessed, or at least the best of many. Before this season even started many had tipped Jabari Parker of Duke and Andrew Wiggins of Kansas to fight it out to be the number one pick, but has the season so far made an impact on who will go first, and could Joel Embiid be picked above the pair previously mentioned?

Parker is one of the stars that will make an instant impact, and he evidently has the potential to turn a poor team in to a playoff contender. He's known for his offensive game, and he can shoot from almost anywhere, which is an attractive proposition for many struggling NBA teams. Some have compared him to Carmelo Anthony, in that the pair are both selfish shoot-first type players, but many teams are lacking a player of that style.

The other noteworthy contender before the season began, Andrew Wiggins, has shown glimpses of greatness, and aspects of an erratic side that may scare possible teams away from drafting him. The Kansas star is efficient on both the offense and defense, but his lapses in concentration are indeed a cause for concern and it's hard to see a team risking the number one pick on him now. There is no doubt that Wiggins will be a top three selection, and he will be a massive upgrade for any struggling side that picks him, but he is a riskier pick than his draft rivals.

Joel Embiid, who is 7'0", and fast, has a solid side to his game that the others have sometimes lacked. The youngster is from Cameroon, and has only played basketball for three years, meanign there's a lot to learn, but so far he has transitioned in to the game with ease, and the NBA doesn't appear to be a daunting prospect for the star either. With how much his game has developed one can wonder how much he would progress under the fine coaches the NBA provides. He could go from consistent rookie to top superstar within a season or two.

The teams that will fight it out for these stars have a lot to consider, but all of them are frightened of making the mistake the Cleveland Cavaliers made last season, by drafting the wrong guy (Anthony Bennett), but they shouldn't worry, as these stars, and the many others available, all look far better players than what was available last season. It may come down to team needs, rather than who's viewed as the best player of the three.
