Jermain Defoe has scored for fun in the Premier League and for his country England, but he felt at the this late stage of his career it was time to leave to the MLS, and he joined Toronto FC. His debut against Seattle Sounders was one to remember, and it's certainly kept him in England's World Cup plans. Defoe score twice as he led his new team to a 2-1 victory over the Seattle Sounders.

It took seventeen minutes for the former Tottenham man to score his first MLS goal, showing that a goalscorer can adapt to any league in the world. In his post-match interview he said "he most important thing is obviously winning the game," Defoe said. "To score two goals in your debut, that's a dream." When he was asked to explain how he felt he explained "To score two goals in your debut, that's a dream."

Although the MLS has improved rapidly lately, it is a class below the Premier League, so it should not come as a surprise if the striker continues to score several goals on a regular basis. Many believe he is still good enough to play at the highest level in England. Defoe has suggested recently that moving to the MLS will not harm his World Cup chances, and although many believe it will, surely if he, as predicted, scores an enormous amount of goals, it will be hard to leave him behind.

How many goals can Defoe score in the MLS season? Will he lead Toronto FC to glory?
