It's early April and that means one thing for soccer fans. The UEFA Champions League is now at full speed. The quarter final first legs were this week, with the second legs of the tie taking place next week, so you're probably wondering which four teams look like progressing to the semi final?

Manchester United took on defending champions Bayern Munich and on paper it was a complete mismatch, but luckily soccer is not played on paper, and United battled hard throughout, and they will take a 1-1 draw to Munich. Although it looks like Munich will progress, United have a fighting chance, and in the Champions League anything can happen.

Barcelona are one of the favourites to win it all, but they faced La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid at home. It was supposed to be a tough game, but one Lionel Messi could ease his team through. It didn't pan out that way. Madrid are a different kind of force this season, and even once their star player went off injured they were a match for the Spanish giants. Madrid will take a 1-1 draw back, as they look to see themselves through at home.

Real Madrid were looking to get revenge on Borussia Dortmund, who knocked them out last season, and they found it easer than they'd anticipated, winning 3-0. Real are without a doubt the favourite of all eight remaining teams to book their place in the next round, as they've got the biggest lead heading in to the second legs.

One of the interesting ties was Jose Mourinho's Chelsea taking on the mega-rich Paris. St Germain. Chelsea battled, getting a 1-1 draw at the break, but they fell apart in the second half, with PSG dominating, and grabbing the 3-1 victory. Although Chelsea are capable of winning at home, it would be a huge surprise to see a team of PSG's calibre throw away this kind of lead.

So it appears Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and PSG will play one another in the semi finals, but don't be surprised if that changes during the exciting second leg fixtures.
