Disney Studios chairman Alan Thorn has confirmed a rumor that was going around earlier this week: Star Wars: Episode VII is already filming despite a May star date revealed earlier in the year. It looks like J.J. Abrams and his team are already underway on this new film, but the casting process is reportedly incomplete still.

"We have a lot of them [in place]," Horn said about the main characters, though he did not name any of them. "We're just not completely done yet."

Horn also confirmed that Episode VII would take place about 30 years after Return of the Jedi and that Carrie Fisher is indeed in the next movie. It seems like a safe idea to confirm this casting news since the actress has been talking about her involvement for a good year now.

"It's all about the screenplay," Horn said about the newly completed script. "It has to be screenplay, screenplay, screenplay."

The Disney Studios chairman spoke of other industry topics, such as the increasing importance of foreign markets.

"China is now the No. 2 market after the United States," Horn explained. "But just to give you some perspective, there's 44,000 screens in the U.S. and Canada; in the U.K. there's 4,000, Italy 4,000, Spain 4,000, France 4,800, Mexico 5,000. China has 18,000 now [for] 1.3 billion people -- 18,000 screens. We have one-quarter as many people and 44,000 screens. And they're building 10 screens a day in China. It is a major new growth market."
