South African athlete Oscar Pistorius has been describing the tragic events surrounding his shooting of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. He claims it was accidental, but some evidence has gone against him, making it look like it was possibly premeditated. He has been taking the stand himself recently, and he said he tried to help her and held her as he waited for the ambulance to arrive.

Oscar claims he mistook her for an intruder on Valentine's Day 2013, and he shot her. Some are aruging that he killed her after an argument and that his intention was to do everything in a planned fashion.

The athlete denies deliberately shooting dead Ms Steenkamp on Valentine's Day last year, arguing he mistook her for an intruder. Explaining himself he said "Before I knew it, I had fired four shots at the door," The case against him doesn't look good, as videos have emerged of him playing with guns on more than one occasion, and the videos go alongside other evidence that suggest he's an angry, violent individual.

He could face life imprisonment if he is convicted for murder. He claims that he had got up to bring some fans inside in order to cool his bedroom, and he then heard the bathroom window being opened and he panicked, wanting to protect both himself and Ms Steenkamp. He suggested he said "I whispered to Reeva to get down and phone the police,"

With the evidence stacking up, the case is getting extremely tense, and Oscar taking the stand himself has not helped to cool the court room tensions either.
