Though Star Wars: Episode VII is the current film in the headlines after Disney bought out Lucasfilms, news of other projects came up as well in the merger. For instance, spin off movies based on specific Star Wars characters were mentioned, leading to a lot of hype and hopes for certain fan favorites. Boba Fett was one that was pretty much confirmed, but we haven't heard much on the topic in a very long time. What's going on over at Disney?

Slashfilm reports:

Several Star Wars websites reported Disney that Lucasfilm executives had an ultra-secret breakfast to discuss the franchise. Whether or not this meeting actually happened is already in question, which should paint this rumor in even a dimmer light. But one site is reporting much of the conversation centered on everyone's favorite bounty hunter Boba Fett. Fett is potentially one of the characters either Simon Kinberg or Lawrence Kasdan are writing a spin-off movie for but that may have run into some difficulties because of Fett's allegiances.

According to reports, executives at this Boba Fett meeting were overheard saying they want the iconic character to remain a feared bounty hunter in the Star Wars universe, but also a like-able "hero" for a spin off movie.

Surely these executives can turn the character into some sort of anti-hero (a la Wolverine for example), right? We'll have to wait and see how this one plays out, but hopefully the idea isn't scrapped. Boba Fett is a fan-favorite character that could generate plenty of money for Disney.
