If you were waiting for a new, rebooted The Flintstones movie, you're in luck! If you weren't, you're still in luck because Will Ferrell and his producing partner Adam McKay are set to executive produce the Hanna-Barbera cartoon for the big screen soon.

Plus, this will be an animated feature and not a live action adaptation like the campy versions we remember from recent history.

According to The Hollywood Reporter:

Flintstones was The Simpsons of its day, a primetime cartoon and sitcom that ran from 1960 to 1966 and then entertained millions in the ensuing decades when it aired on syndication. The show was set in the Stone Age and told of the antics of Fred Flintstone, his wife Wilma, his best friend Barney Rubble and Rubble's wife and Wilma's best friend, Betty. From the town of Bedrock, Fred worked in a quarry, liked to barbecue brontosaurus burgers and live the modern stone age family life.

A previous attempt to bring The Flintstones back to life by Seth MacFarlane was scrapped by Fox, which leaves this new Ferrell/McKay production as the first reboot since the live-action prequel film Viva Rock Vegas.

What do you think of this new movie news involving Will Ferrell and Adam McKay? Do you think this new animated feature will be better than a live-action adaptation? Do you think Ferrell will add his voice to the film as well or just stay behind the scenes? Let us know what you think in the comments section below!
