Chumbawamba got knocked down and they're not getting up again. The British alternative music band made the announcement on their website, Chumba.com.

"That's it then, it's the end. With neither a whimper, a bang or a reunion. Thirty years of ideas and melodies, endless meetings and European tours, press releases, sing-along choruses and Dada sound poetry, finally at an end," they said in an official break-up statement.

The band expressed that they wish they could sit down with every fan individually and explain why they would no longer be making music together.

"We felt we'd got to a point where what we did as a band -- and specifically the writing, recording, touring cycle -- wasn't doing justice to what Chumbawamba set out to do in the first place. We were always as much about ideas as music, and that meant doing more than writing, recording and touring songs. It meant trying to be relevant and active and up-to-date, while trying to avoid the dreaded rut of routine or repetition. Being up-to-date meant giving plenty of time and energy to the band, constantly, for those thirty years; a constancy we plainly couldn't keep up with in the end," the band wrote.

The British band is best known in the U.S. for their 1997 "Tubthumping," which is best known by the informal title of the song, taken from its chorus, "I Get Knocked Down." The hit song topped the U.K. singles charts at Number 2, and the U.S. charts at Number 6, the Huffington Post reported.

Some of the most repeated lines in the song are, "We'll be singing when we're winning," "Pissing the night away," "Danny Boy," and of course, "I get knocked down but I get up again, you're never gonna keep me down."
