La Liga side Sevilla added more glory to the Spanish nation, lifting the Europa League trophy in Turin after eliminating Benfica via penalties. After a close encounter the game was 0-0 at the end of the game, at the end of extra time, and it took penalties to separate the pair, with Sevilla winning 4-2. Sevilla and their fans erupted as they lifted the trophy and held it high with their medals shining across the stadium.

With the Champions League final a matter of weeks away, many are already looking forward to an all La Liga clash between both Real Madrid and their city rivals Atletico Madrid, but Sevilla ensured both European trophies would be lifted by a La Liga side. Benfica were the heavy favourites, but both teams remained nervous throughout, with Sevilla able to remain slightly more composed when it mattered most.

Sevilla were tipped to get knocked out a while back, with the likes of Juventus and Benfica remaining, but they proved that a good team ethic can help to eliminate some of the so called 'better' teams. Juventus had been hoping to play in their home stadium and to possibly lift the trophy their, too, but Sevilla instead are the 2013/14 champions.

Can any team stop the Spanish dominance across Europe next year, or will they carry it on for a long time? This also raises the question, should the Europa League winner get an automatic entry in to the next tier, the UEFA Champions League, or should they have to earn that through the league as other teams do?
