Maybe its not such a great idea to imply that one of the most tragic events of the year was somehow influenced by a comedy starring one of America's most beloved and outspoken comedians Seth Rogen. That wasn't what Washington Post columnist Ann Hornaday thought when penning her op-ed piece about the Elliot Rodger shooting spree from last week.

According to Hornaday, Rogen's character in the 2014 comedy Neighbors (and generally every Judd Apatow comedy) felt left out and under-sexed, giving Rodger someone to kind of relate to. Obviously Rogen didn't appreciate this and took to Twitter to respond to the column.

Here is an excerpt from Hornaday's op-ed:

How many students watch outsized frat-boy fantasies like Neighbors and feel, as Rodger did, unjustly shut out of college life that should be full of "sex and fun and pleasure"? How many men, raised on a steady diet of Judd Apatow comedies in which the shlubby arrested adolescent always gets the girl, find that those happy endings constantly elude them and conclude, "It's not fair"?

Here are Rogen's Twitter responses:

Here is Apatow's response as well:

Attributing violence to film or TV as an influence is not a new method of discussing tragedies, even though most believe it to pretty much be a cop-out or an easy way to point the blame. Rogen obviously didn't like having his name anywhere near Rdoger's.
