Ever since he was teased in the post-credits scene of Marvel's The Avengers, fans have patiently awaited the official debut of Thanos in the Marvel movie universe. We learned last year that the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy would feature the imposing antagonist, but no actor had been named - until now. Josh Brolin will portray Thanos this summer.

Latino Review broke the news (as usual), reporting:

An article on James Gunn's post-production process reported a scene with Thanos on a rocket throne in Act 3, which suggests an appearance long enough that someone is going to have to voice the Mad Titan, someone that could take the part into Avengers 3 as a major villain. That meant Marvel was looking for an actor of some caliber, someone that could give a performance to a very complex, but very purple-skinned alien villain.

After this rumor started to spread, it was confirmed on Variety.

So what can we expect from Brolin's Thanos? Well last year, Guardians director James Gunn gave us a big hint.

"We're definitely connected by Thanos," he explained. "This is the first movie in the Marvel cosmic universe. We're connected to the rest of the [Marvel Cinematic] Universe. How that plays out is gonna be seen as the future comes along."

If you aren't familiar with the character, you should do some research. This guy is super powerful and even more evil. He's definitely a character we can't wait to see on the big screen.

Are you excited to see/hear Brolin in this role?
