USA have one of the toughest groups to deal with at the 2014 World Cup. With all the Brazil-bound teams deep in their preparations, they are currently going through their final friendly games before the tournament starts. USA had two options. Perform in easy, morale boosting matches, or play tough, competitive games that will truly prepare them. In Turkey they'd picked an opponent that represents the latter.

The first half was edgy, with both teams showing impressive qualities and worrying lapses that are a cause for concern. However, in the 26th minute Fabian Johnson fired the United States ahead, ensuring they went in to the half-time break with a 1-0 lead.

Clint Dempsey, who looks set to miss out on the World Cup itself, scored in the second half to make it 2-0, and the US were in cruise control until Turkey scored a last minute goal, which gave them a scare. However, the US held on and will now be feeling the extra confidence they needed. The US demonstrated excellent passing, and a hard-work ethic matched by no other team as of late. These attributes will be enough to keep them closely matched to their World Cup opposition.

The US certainly seem prepared, bit how much impact can they have on the biggest stage of them all? If they can progress through their difficult group, who knows how far they can go in the tournament.
How far can the US go in the 2014 World Cup, and can they win it in the foreseeable future?
