Dan Gilbert and the Cleveland Cavaliers have been saying they mean business for a long while now, and after failure after failure, it appears Gilbert is prepared to take every necessary step to improve his team's fortunes. The Cavaliers are yet again without a head coach, and they've considered their options for a long while, but it's believed they offered Kentucky's NCAA coach, John Calipari, a seven-year, $60 million-plus contract offer. He would've become their president and coach. Instead he signed to stay with Kentucky.

The Cavaliers have the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NBA draft, and they believe that, alongside the right coach, and a positive free agency, will finally see them back with the best of them in the Eastern Conference. With Calipari no longer an option, it's believed they are looking at hiring Alvin Gentry, Ty Lue or Lionel Hollins. They have also weighed up making offers for other elite college coaches in Tom Izzo and Billy Donovan.

Whatever the Cavaliers decide to do with their coaching role, it seems like they will draft one of Jabari Parker, Andrew Wiggins or Joel Embiid, and then try and sign up Kyrie Irving to a long-term contract, and then finally they'll look to bring back former superstar LeBron James.

Whether the Cavaliers get the best of their playing/coaching targets, it seems Gilbert is fed up of being far below even second best, and now he's making the moves to push them up there with the elite NBA teams. It just might work out, in the end.
