Just hours after reports confirmed Cristiano Ronaldo would be fit for Sunday's Group G match against the surprising United States team, the Ballon d'Or winner allegedly limped off of the practice pitch due to his ailing knee injury. Now the reports are claiming he's out for the game and could be risking his career if he decides to continue any 2014 FIFA World Cup matches.

We're definitely treating this speculation as a rumor since there are so many different reports. For now we can assume that Ronaldo is definitely not 100%, but should we rule him out for the highly anticipated clash with the US?

'Cristiano is 100 percent fit to play. Every match, if he starts to play, it is because he is fit to play, he's ready to play,'' his teammate Beto said this week. ''He loves football but his body is the most important thing for him ... so if he starts a match he is ready, he is fit, so I don't think that is a problem.''

Beto also said that Cristiano is "sick of reading things about him that are not true."

Despite Beto's statement, reports claim Ronaldo's doctor, who examined the star after he left practice a bit early, said that playing on this injured knee would put the 29-year-old superstar's entire career at risk. This of course has yet to be sourced back to any credible insiders, so we'll just add it to the pile of rumors.

We'll have to trust Beto's words on this, but we know Cristiano isn't doing well with his knee. As Sunday's match approaches, we're sure to get an update.
