If you thought the 2014 World Cup group stage was exciting, then think again. The Round of 16 has just finished, and it topped the group stage, and did so in style. USA took on Belgium, with both teams aiming to become the last World Cup quarter-finalist, and the team that would take on Argentina. After 90 minutes of pulsating, end-to-end action, the game went to extra-time, with the score tied at 0-0. USA fought and fought, but they couldn't hold on as Belgium rocked their way to a 2-1 victory, sending them through to the next round. USA fought until the end, but just couldn't find the energy to bring themselves back in to the game.

USA can take pride, knowing they got out of their group, which contained the likes of Germany, Portugal and Ghana. USA weren't tipped to do well, so extra-time in the Round of 16 is a magnificent achievement, and one that's truly allowed America to embrace the sport of soccer. With new fans taking interest each day, one can wonder if USA will be a serious contender to lift the 2018 World Cup?

World Cup quarter-finals

France V Germany

Argentina V Belgium

Netherlands V Costa Rica

Brazil V Colombia

Who will win these games? France, Argentina, Netherlands and Brazil should stand proud as the last, and best four remaining teams in world football. Brazil would remain the favourites with their home advantage being the key factor.

Has this been the most entertaining World Cup of all-time? Who will lift the coveted trophy?
