It's been a crazy World Cup ride for team USA, and although they exited the tournament at the hands of Belgium, they left with an enormous amount of pride, the respect of the world and a great foundation to build on for future success. It seems that the drama is not over yet, however. Excluded star Landon Donovan has taken a shot at coach Jurgen Klinsmann, blaming him for their exit, whilst President Barack Obama has congratulated the team on their form. In the midst of this, goalkeeper Tim Howard is the talk of the world.

Donovan is still bitter at missing out, it would seem. He explained ""It's certainly a missed opportunity. The thought of having a game Saturday - the day after the Fourth of July, against [Lionel] Messi and Argentina, with what was already a swelling audience - would have been incredible." He continued "I think we're all disappointed in what happened yesterday. I think the most disappointing is we didn't seem like we gave it a real effort, from a tactical standpoint. I thought the guys did everything they could, they did everything that was asked of them, but I don't think we were set up to succeed yesterday, and that was tough to watch."

On a positive note, Obama's call was released to the public, and he praised the team, saying "You guys did us proud. To see the way you guys captured the hearts and the imaginations of the whole country is unbelievable. I know it's disappointing. But what you guys accomplished is really, really significant." He then went on to invite them to the White House to meet him.

During all of this drama it's easy to forget that US goalkeeper Howard set the World Cup record for saves (16) and is being talked about across the globe. Not a bad time for the United States' Men's National Team, right?
