On Saturday 12 June some of the world's best boxers fought at the Collision Course event in Liverpool, at the famous Echo Arena. A host of home-town fighters were hoping to impress their fans, including Callum Smith, but one American was hoping to disappoint the thousands in attendance. That man was Vladine Biosse, who was hoping to win his super-middleweight bout, and gave it his all in an energetic, exciting bout, but the American lost on points, but did walk away with the respect of the audience.

For the majority of the fight Smith threw punch after punch, almost using Biosse as a punching bag, but the U.S. fighter refused to fall. Smith had won his 11 previous fights, and many believed he needed a tough test, and Biosse's tough American spirit ensured he got just that. Biosse did manage to land the occasional stunning blow, but what impressed the world, was his willingness to take shots after shots.

Many of the shots the American warrior took would've seen other boxers knocked out, but Biosse was able to shrug them off. The judges scored the bout 100-89, 99-91 and 99-91 all in favour of the 24-year-old, who keeps his WBC international title. Despite walking away without a title, Biosse proved he is one of the toughest men in the world, and despite being punched time after time in his opponents home-town, he wasn't going to give up easily.

What's next for Biosse, surely nobody will fancy fighting him after this tough display? Can Smith continue his winning ways?
