If a player impresses a big club like Real Madrid are usually sniffing around, and that was the case when AS Monaco's star James Rodriguez started to show his skills for Colombia at the 2014 World Cup. It soon looked a certainty that a deal would be made between the two, and James today signed for Madrid in a transfer believed to be worth around $90 million. Can he work well alongside Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and the countless of other stars they have at their disposal? It looks like Madrid may retain their UEFA Champions League trophy after all.

The 23-year-old star has signed a six-year deal. The star scored six World Cup goals in five matches, leading his side to the quarter-finals, but advances from Madrid would always be too much for Monaco to reject. Monaco's vice-chairman Vadim Vasilyev was quick to explain the deal, saying they were proud to be involved in "one of the most significant transfers in football history". Vasilyev added: "The time came when the solution of a transfer was considered to be the most beneficial solution for all parties."

James joins Toni Kroos as a new summer signing, after having an impressive World Cup. It's hard to see Madrid being stopped with these two solid additions. However, many believe they may sell a few players to balance the books now, so who could leave the club, to make way for these new arrivals?

It's been an interesting summer and it seems like we're in store for more excitement than we've ever seen during a transfer window.
