During a recent Television Critics Association Q&A session, the star of the upcoming ABC series Selfie and the new Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy looked back fondly on her past and opened up about Doctor Who. When asked about Capaldi, she couldn't hold back her excitement!

"I'm so exited," Gillan said. "I was actually there when Peter Capaldi walked onto the set for the first time and it was one of the coolest things I've ever seen."

She added: "It's in safe hands."

"They gave me the exit that I wanted," Gillan said. "It was dramatic and emotional and all of the things that I'd hoped it would be. And they gave Arthur Darvill, who played my husband in the show, a really good exit and a heroic moment, which made me really happy."

We love when Amy talks about Rory!

As far as her career goes, Gillan is happy to stay involved in science fiction, as we're sure her fans will be delighted to hear.

"Science fiction has been the best for me," she said. "I want to continue working in genre, because I think it has amazing female roles and we get to do a range of emotions - comedy and drama."
