One of the most anticipated films of the year, Interstellar, hits theaters on November 7, 2014, but this week at San Diego Comic-Con, fans had the chance to see director Christopher Nolan and star Matthew McConaughey discuss details of the sci-fi epic. Plus, a new trailer debuted! So what exactly was revealed at this special panel? We've compiled some of the information below!

Reports of the new trailer that debuted at SDCC this week claim we see brand new footage of the space travel involved in the film. Nolan's take on space travel should be breathtaking considering his background, so we're excited to share the trailer with you once it becomes available online. We're expecting this will happen sometime next week!

While answering questions and just speaking about the project to the audience, Nolan revealed that his big jump into sci-fi was a long time coming. He has "always been a huge fan of science fiction," he told the crowd, explaining that he "grew up in an era when to be an astronaut was the highest ambition of any child."

In many ways, Interstellar is this dream coming true for McConaughey's character.

"The single biggest influence will probably have to be 2001," the director said when asked about his inspiration. "We really had an ambition with this film, not to do what 2001 did, but to tell a similarly ambitious story in score and scale. I want kids to go with their parents and see that type of scale on screen. That's my ambition."

"The thrill of trying to make a large-scale film about journeying through the stars is about taking the audience with us," Nolan said.
