The release date for Mad Max: Fury Road is set for May 15, 2015, but our first look at the highly anticipated film debuted just this week at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con. Though plenty of footage was shown during SDCC, Warner Bros. this week released the movie's first trailer running just under three minutes. Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Nathan Jones, Zoë Kravitz, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Riley Keough, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley star in this epic Road Warrior franchise reboot from director George Miller.

Set up as an "extended chase scene," Miller's fourth movie in his Road Warrior franchise serves as a prequel to the Mel Gibson films from the past. As we can see from the first trailer, this is definitely a movie about a car chase, but according to reports from SDCC, there's much more to the film's footage than just a "chase."

"The story popped in my head and just wouldn't go away," Miller told Hall H at the 2014 Comic-Con. "I love chase movies; they're the purest form of cinema. I wanted to make one long extended chase, and see what we could pick up about the characters on the way."

This movie was filmed almost two years ago, so hopefully the wait was worth it! I guess we'll see in May. From the looks of this trailer and what Miller told SDCC 2014, we have a lot to look forward to in 2015.
