Johnny Manziel: Jim Thome: NFL: Cleveland Browns Star Hopes To Create Legacy & Statue His Retired MLB Lookalike Achieved For Cleveland Indians

The city of Cleveland have not had a lot of players of legendary status in recent years, but Jim Thome has certainly been one player the city will never forget. The former Cleveland Indians player has just signed-and-retired for his beloved Tribe, and on top of that he has had a statue placed outside of Progressive Field, of himself. Not too bad, right. Across town, the Cleveland Browns have a man called Johnny Manziel, who may only be a rookie, but he is hoping to create the legacy Thome has, and it seems he may be their starting QB, giving himself a legitimate chance to do so. Ironically the pair look alike, but Manziel will be hoping to gain his hero status, too.

Thome was delighted at all of his tributes, saying "I don't think anyone could ever be comfortable getting a statue, I mean that respectfully. You play the game as a kid, you progress through high school, you get drafted, you go through the minor leagues. Nobody ever dreams of a statue, I certainly didn't." However, he got one, and he deserved it too.

Across town, the Browns are locked in a QB drama, should veteran Brian Hoyer start, or should their tempting rookie, Manziel, get the job from the start? After all, Hoyer is not the man tipped to lead this franchise forward for the next decade, that is Johnny, so why wait? The Browns have lacked a player with that extra bite to take them to success on their own, and that's what Thome did for the Indians many times.
