ESPN has issued an apology for its coverage of the Rams locker room showering routine of rookie, and gay NFL star, Michael Sam.

According to TMZ, the sports network channel landed itself in the hot seat on Tuesday, when Josina Anderson reported on air her conversations with multiple Rams players describing how Sam conducts himself in the locker room.

Anderson said during her story, "Another Rams defensive player told me that 'Sam is respecting our space' and that, from his perspective, he seems to think that Michael Sam is kind of waiting to take a shower, as not to make his teammates feel uncomfortable."

The report has now made several people outraged, including St. Louis Rams coach Jeff Fisher, and Rams defensive end, star Chris Long, who attacked the network, tweeting, "Dear ESPN, Everyone but you is over it."

ESPN made a public apology, which said:

"ESPN regrets the manner in which we presented our report. Clearly yesterday we collectively failed to meet the standards we have set in reporting on LGBT-related topics in sports."

No comments have been made by Sam.
