'Guardians Of The Galaxy' Character Drax The Destroyer Inspires Autistic Fan - Dave Bautista's Superhero From 2014 Marvel Blockbuster Helps Boy w/ Autism

The 2014 hit blockbuster film of the summer, The Guardians of the Galaxy, has introduced the world and movie fans to some new, interesting superheroes. One of which is Drax the Destroyer, portrayed by WWE superstar Dave Bautista. The menacing yet lovable character won over many new fans this summer, one of which is an autistic boy that found some inspiration from the character. Thanks to a Tumblr post by this autistic fan's older brother, we learned how Drax's lack of understanding metaphors truly inspired this young fan. Here is an excerpt from the Tumblr post:

I took my little brother (who falls on the autism spectrum) to see Guardians of the Galaxy and after this scene he lit up like a Christmas tree and screamed "He's like me! He can't do metaphors!" And for the rest of the film my brother stared at Drax in a state of rapture.

So for the last 6 days I have heard my brother repeatedly quote all of the Drax lines from the movie verbatim (one of his talents), begin studying vocabulary test words, and tell everyone he knows that people with autism can also be superheroes.

From there, the author goes on to explain that Drax probably wasn't meant to come off as autistic but the character truly inspired his brother to reach for the stars!
