If you were looking for a bit of comic relief during the somber day that was the 13th anniversary of 9/11, you needn't look any further than TBS' CONAN. Aside from the hilarious episode itself, comedy duo Garfunkel and Oates stopped by and performed their track "The Fade Away" towards the end of the episode.

Want a good way to end a relationship? Well, you're in luck! The duo, who are in their first season of their IFC show – also titled Garfunkel and Oates – took to the CONAN stage and told the crowd just how their "girlfriends" end relationships with their significant others. But it turns out they're hypocrites. Don't shoot the messenger! They said it first.

"The Fade Away" is littered with lyrics that basically conclude it's easier to end a relationship by letting it "fade away" rather than ending it with words – or, in 2014, texts and emoticons – which is what girls these days tend to do (so the song says).

Watch Garfunkel and Oates' "The Fade Away" below:

Following their performance, the two sat down next to O'Brien and guests Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation / This Is Where I Leave You) and Kunal Nayyer (The Big Bang Theory) to discuss the meaning behind the song, their current IFC show and how Tom Arnold helped them get their first gig after he booked them at a club because he thought they were actually Art Garfunkel and John Oates. Yep, really.
