Jason Bourne 5 Confirmed, Release Date: Matt Damon, Paul Greengrass Return For Action Movie Franchise - Jeremy Renner's Spinoff Delayed

After years of denying a return to the franchise and then hinting at some possibility of coming back, it looks like Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass are ready to make another Bourne movie! Set for a 2016 release date and pushing Jeremy Renner's spinoff project for the real Jason Bourne, Damon and Greengrass will reunite once again for the 5^th installment of the action franchise.

The last time Greengrass and Damon worked on this franchise was back in 2007, after which a spinoff film was produced starring Renner as Aaron Cross - another agent like Bourne, but telling a different story - which hit theaters in 2012.

Known by its working title, Bourne 5, this project was originally set as the Renner-led, Justin Lin-directed sequel to the Aaron Cross film, but that has understandably been pushed aside for the real Jason Bourne storyline with Damon. So far, the Cross film has only been delayed and not canceled, so keep your eyes out for more updates on that project as it comes up.

Earlier this year, Damon said that he was "open" to working on another Bourne film, but only if Greengrass was also going to be involved. The director didn't seem to be budging on not wanting to come back to the franchise, but it looks like he finally gave in this week.
