Another comic book character is jumping from the pages of the book to the TV screen. DC Comics' Lucifer is making his way from supporting character to TV star.

According to Deadline, Fox has acquired the rights to make a TV pilot based on the DC Comics character Lucifer.

"Fox has given a put pilot commitment to Lucifer, from Californication creator/executive producer Tom Kapinos and DC Comics sibling Warner Bros TV, which is behind all DC-themed TV projects," Deadline reported.

Lucifer appeared in The Sandman comic book series, but was only a supporting character. In the TV pilot, he will be the lead and the show will focus on his life in Los Angeles.

"Lucifer who, [is] bored and unhappy as the Lord Of Hell, resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he opens an exclusive piano bar called Lux," the publication said about the show's storyline.

The Lucifer announcement comes one week before the network's latest comic book-based series Gotham premieres. Gotham focuses on "The good. The evil. The beginning" of Gotham City, before Batman came to be the superhero we all know. It follows Detective James Gordon (played by Ben McKenzie) as he tries to solve the crime of who killed Bruce Wayne's parents, while riding Gotham City of its villains, including The Penguin and Fish Mooney.

Gotham and Lucifer aren't the only two DC Comics being brought to life on TV. TNT is nearing a pilot order for Titans as well. Titans will revolve around superheroes-to-be including Robin (Batman's sidekick) according to Deadline.

"WBTV has been rapidly expanding its live-action DC Comics TV universe. This fall, it is going from one to four primetime series, returning Arrow and freshmen The Flash, Gotham and Constantine," the publication revealed.
