The 2014/15 NBA season is a matter of weeks away, and all of a sudden the Cleveland Cavaliers have gone from the basement, to being the team to beat. What an offseason they had, resigning Kyrie Irving, bringing LeBron James back and trading to land Kevin Love. Of course this trio will be enough to frighten the life out of any NBA team, but the NBA should keep their eyes on the Cavaliers young guard, Dion Waiters, who, as strange as it sounds, might just become their MVP this season.

Dion spent all summer hearing how he'd be lucky to start in this new-look Cavaliers starting 5, but he simply laughed it off, knowing that he was an all-important part of the teams plans. Often questioned for his attitude, Dion has seemingly grown up on and off the court. The shooting guard may not be on LeBron's level, but he is young, and eager to learn and develop his game. At times Waiters proved almost unstoppable, as if he was simply playing the game against pre-schoolers, however, at times he struggled to find consistency.

The consistency needed often comes with time, and after an offseason of constant grinding, it appears that Dion is in the best shape of his career. On top of that, with Love, James and Irving to learn from, he's going to be a far better player. Not many NBA teams have five stunning defensive-minded players, meaning Dion could end up being the fourth focus, giving him the kind of space a player can only dream of. For a player that's made three or four defenders look foolish, the idea of him having space and time is scary.

Although LeBron and co. will be the stars, Dion may just become the all-important player for the Cavaliers on their pursuit of an NBA championship. Dion knows this, too, with someone tweeting him saying " EVERYBODY sleeping on @dionwaiters3 Wake these dudes up man", and Dion in turn replied "Dnt worry we gone make some noise this year RT @Aris4_:" Dion may well do just that.
