After years of debate, worry and, most recently, hope, Twentieth Century Fox and Marvel Comics have finally set an official release date for the Deadpool movie that fans weren't sure if they'd ever get to see. We assume Ryan Reynolds will be back for the role, but no casting news has been announced. Thanks to some Deadpool test footage filmed with Reynolds, this film finally convinced studio heads to make the comic book anti-hero adaptation, hitting theaters February 12, 2016.

While there are no contracts in place just yet, we're hoping Reynolds will return to reprise his X-Men: Origins - Wolverine role in the standalone film. If anything, he's been involved with the project since it was conceived back in 2009, so it would be very disappointing if he wasn't starring in the movie. Though his recent test footage filming from the summer and comments make it seem like he's involved.

"The movie has been in a state of limbo for a while. There was such an overpowering reaction to the footage, you sort of feel like, 'Oh, so we weren't crazy for our reasons for loving this character, for loving this role.' It's interesting to see the power of the Internet," Reynolds recently told the Niagara Falls Review. "It's awe-inspiring, actually. And it's neat that Twitter and Facebook and Instagram can move mountains when used in the right way."
