Last week we learned that the Deadpool movie was confirmed and a release date for 2016 was announced, but a new rumor suggests that Fox finally greenlit the Ryan Reynolds film thanks to a less than savory rating. According to speculation, the wisecracking antihero of Marvel will be rated PG-13 when he hits theaters on February 12, 2016.

So after that violent test footage leaked earlier this summer and then the movie became a reality, this new rumor makes it seem like the alleged rating is the "catch" for fans. After all, would you like a censored Deadpool movie?

This new rumor comes from the podcast Meet the Movie Press, stating: "They figured out how to make it PG-13. And therefore 'not lose its soul' - and that's a quote - of the script so that they can make it."

So it sounds like despite the rating, but still work. If this rumor is true, we might be seeing a tamer version of Deadpool, but apparently the people behind the film are okay with PG-13 and have basically made it work.

Also, as Slash Film points out, "don't forget this is the MPAA we're talking about here. A movie like Boyhood is rated R while Transformers: Age of Extinction, in which thousands of people perish, is PG-13."

It seems like this film, if this rumor is true, will have to depend on fans for it to become a hit. Considering the fact that fans pretty much got it to this point already, we think Deadpool is going to do just fine.
